LGBT Health Awareness Week (March 26-March 30) brings to attention the continuing need to ensure LGBT health equity across our nation. Stigma and discrimination has long been a barrier to healthcare for our LGBT communities. On average, LGBT individuals experience higher rates of cancer, obesity, HIV/AIDS and mental health concerns than the rest of our nation.
At Trillium Health, we remain committed to addressing gaps in care by ensuring access to affordable and extraordinary care, for all. Our specialized and primary health care team, supportive services, and our Center for Transgender Health are dedicated to the health and well-being of LGBT individuals.
I am deeply proud that our organization has been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign's Health Equality Index as a leader in LGBT health care for six consecutive years.
Please join me as we honor our LGBT neighbors and acknowledge LGBT Health Awareness Week.
My Best,
Andrea DeMeo
