Newly-formed ROC Pride Collective coordinates local LGBTQ+ events
February 1, 2022 (Rochester, NY) – The annual Pride parade and festival will return to Rochester in July after a two-year hiatus. The parade will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, and will go down Park Avenue. A festival will take place at Cobbs Hill Park immediately following the parade. This year will also mark a major milestone: it has been 50 years since the first organized LGBTQ+ Pride events were held in Rochester.
This will be the first time the Pride parade and festival will be put on by the ROC Pride Collective – a community-based coalition dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride in the Greater Rochester area. The group includes volunteers from the LGBTQ+ community and representatives from local nonprofits. It was formed in July of 2021 in response to the community’s desire to see the parade return after a two-year absence.
The ROC Pride Collective has launched a new website (RocPrideCollective.com) to serve as the online home of the parade, festival, and many other local pride events. The website also has more information for people interested in volunteering or marching in the parade, as well as details about sponsorship opportunities.
The ROC Pride Collective is committed to hosting Pride events that celebrate, uplift and empower all communities. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Rochester Black Pride, an independent organization.
