Trillium Health and Macy's Eastview Mall to Hold 27th Annual Shop & Wrap
WHAT: Trillium Health is collaborating with Macy’s Eastview Mall on its 27th annual Shop & Wrap event on Saturday, Nov. 2. For the ninth year of its partnership, Macy’s will present a check for $5,000 to Trillium Health in support of this event. Shop & Wrap is a volunteer-run event that provides holiday packages to people in need who are impacted by HIV. Every year, 240 boxes containing household and personal care items are put together by volunteers for distribution to more than 500 individuals, including 139 children. Macy’s Eastview Mall, Xerox GALAXe Pride at Work, and Bandwidth Application Technology will spearhead the event benefitting the patients and clients of Trillium Health. Local media are invited to cover the event, but the event is not open to the public.
WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, Nov. 2, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Trillium Health, 259 Monroe Avenue, Day Health. Day Health is at the back of the building, off the rear parking lot.
WHO: The annual tradition draws over 70 volunteers, including Macy’s at Eastview Mall, Xerox GALAXe, Trillium Health volunteers, college student organizations, and community members. Xerox GALAXe is a group of Xerox employees who are, or who affirm, LGBTQ individuals and engage in social and community improvement activities.
WHY: Shop & Wrap donates need-based items such as personal hygiene items, scarves, hats, mittens, household products, and other items that may not be purchased using WIC, EBT, or other government assistance programs. Many individuals and families who are impacted by HIV face higher-cost health care and health-related needs, and as a result, basic needs may go unmet. Shop & Wrap works to fill this gap and is part of Trillium Health’s work to End the HIV Epidemic in Greater Rochester by 2020.
