Rochester, NY –In 2013, more than 16,000 deaths in the United States involved prescription opioids, and more than 8,000 others were related to heroin. Naloxone is a drug that can reverse the effects of opioid, including prescription pain medication, and heroin overdoses. Naloxone can save lives.
Trillium Health is offering free community trainings in opioid overdose recognition, prevention, and reversal using naloxone. In 2014, Trillium Health’s Outreach Project trained over 150 people in Opioid Overdose Prevention programs and has already trained nearly 200 people in 2015.

WHEN: Saturday, September 26th – 1-2:30pm Following this date,
training occurs every 4th Saturday of each month, 1-2:30pm

FREE & OPEN to the public
Upon completion, trained participants will be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose; administer naloxone properly; and take necessary follow-up steps. Participants in the Trained Overdose Responder program also receive at no cost a naloxone kit.
