Mpox Vaccine Effectiveness Project

URMC, supported by the CDC, collaborates with NYSDOH to assess the effectiveness of the Mpox JYNNEOS Vaccine in preventing Mpox. You might be eligible if you:

  • are 18-49 years old,
  • have had a recent visit at Trillium Health

AND

  • are a gay or bisexual cis male OR
  • are a cis male and have sex with men OR
  • are transgender and/or non-binary

The Sheftall Lab Suicide Prevention Study

If you are a biological parent of a child between the ages of 9-11, you and your child may be eligible for this study.

The Suicide Prevention Study is aimed at understanding children’s risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors, as well as how to better treat children at risk. You and your child do not have to have a previous history of these behaviors to participate. Participants will be asked to complete five study visits over a five-year span. Both you and your child will be compensated for each activity you complete. Transportation, mileage reimbursement, and childcare reimbursement will be provided as needed.

The Women’s Sexual Health Study: PrEP, Pleasure, and Sexual Health

If you are at least 18 years old and a Black and/or Hispanic/Latine women of trans experience, you may be eligible for this study.

The Women’s Sexual Health study aims to understand sexual health knowledge, PrEP use, and the nature of intimate sexual relationships among Black and Hispanic/Latine transgender women.  Participation includes completing an online survey. Some participants will be asked to complete an individual interview, which can be virtual or in-person. You will be compensated for each activity you complete.

Living Her Best Life: The Long-Time Survivor Study

If you are at least 18 years old, a Black/ African American woman, assigned female at birth, and have been living with HIV for 10 years or more, you may be eligible for this study.

The Long-Time Survivor Study aims to understand the experiences of Black women living with HIV surrounding treatment and sexual health promotion. Long term survivors’ experience with long-term HIV treatment and sexual health strategies will be examined. Participation includes three individual interviews, which can be virtual or in-person. You will be compensated for each interview you complete.

SHAYDES Study

If you are 18 to 26 years old with a history of cancer, you may be eligible for this study.

The SHAYDES study aims to understand the sexual health needs of young adults with a history of cancer. Participants will be asked to attend a one-on-one virtual interview lasting about one hour. You will be compensated for completing the interview.

The Bi+ Health and Relationship Project (BiHARP)

If you are Bi+ (bisexual, pansexual, queer, etc.), married for at least three years, and you or your partner are at least 35 years old, you may be eligible for this study.

The Bi+ Health and Relationship Project (BiHARP) aims to understand how Bi+ individuals’ health behaviors, mental health, and physical health are influenced by their spouses. Bi+ men married to men and Bi+ people of color of any gender identity are encouraged to participate. Participation includes each partner completing an individual interview over zoom for about one hour. Each partner will be compensated for completing an interview.

Project Transcendence

If you are at least 18 years old and identify as a black transgender woman, you may be eligible for this study.

Project Transcendence aims to understand different factors that can influence engagement in HIV prevention behaviors among Black transgender women. The goal of the study is to develop a program designed to better support Black transgender women's use of HIV prevention tools. Participation involves completing a brief online survey and an interview. You will be compensated. If you are interested in learning more, please complete a brief screening survey here.

Dental Connections Study

If you are at least 18 years old and living with HIV/AIDS, you may be eligible for this study.

The Dental connections study aims to assess People Living With HIV/AIDS for dental problems such as gum disease, cavities, etc., and/or mental health issues like depression, anxiety, etc. and refer all participants who screen positive for oral diseases and/or for mental illness for further evaluation. Participation involves attending two visits six months apart. At each visit, you’ll be asked to complete a set of survey questions, have a dental exam, and provide a saliva sample. The study staff will help you coordinate your dental care as needed.
