meet Dr. Karina Vattana
We're thrilled to welcome Dr. Karina Vattana to Pathway Pediatrics. We asked her a few questions so we could get to know her better. Read on to learn more!
Q: Why did you decide to get into medicine?
A: I'm from Rochester and I knew that I wanted to come back to the city and work with the populations that I grew up with. I wanted to become a doctor so I could have one-on-one conversations with kids, make connections, have the time to educate them, and meet kids where they're at.
Q: What's your favorite part of being a doctor?
A: Connecting with families – not just the patients, but the whole family.
Q: Trillium Health is different from a lot of other health care providers - what drew you to join the team?
A: I was completely blown away by Trillium’s commitment to progressive change and social justice. As doctors, and in medicine, we need to level the playing field to address health disparities and racial inequities. Trillium’s strong commitment to improving the Rochester community is what made me think, “I need to be a part of this organization.”
