WHAT: Trillium Health is collaborating with Macy’s at Eastview Mall and Xerox GALAXe for their 26th annual Shop & Wrap event. Shop & Wrap is a volunteer-run event that provides holiday gifts to people in need. Every year, over 200 packages containing household and personal care items are donated to patients impacted by HIV/AIDS. Macy’s at Eastview Mall, alongside Xerox GALAXe Pride at Work, spearhead the event to benefit the patients and clients of Trillium Health.
WHEN: Saturday, December 1st, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
WHERE: Trillium Health, 259 Monroe Avenue, Rochester NY, 14607
WHO: The annual tradition has over 70 volunteers, including Macy’s at Eastview Mall, Xerox, and Trillium Health volunteers, college student organizations, and community members. Xerox GALAXe is a group of Xerox employees who are, or who affirm, LGBTQ individuals and engage in social and community improvement activities.
WHY: Shop & Wrap items are often need-based, ranging from personal hygiene items to scarves, hats, mittens, household products, and other items that may not be purchased using WIC, EBT, or other government programs. HIV/AIDS patients often overlook these items as a necessity, due to higher cost health care and health-related needs. The program is part of Trillium Health’s work to End the HIV Epidemic in Greater Rochester by 2020.
